I don't know if these particular filters do that, but I've seen it with the Hollywood Black Magic filters - they use small pores to achieve the diffusion and those pores end up being visible in the bokeh under some situations. One thing to watch out for with filters like this is that they can produce speckled bokeh (small dots in out-of-focus highlights) under some situations. This gets you four strengths of their Black Supermist, which is similar (but not identical) to some of the other diffusion filters you mentioned.
